Utility companies

Local governments are the founders and majority owners of utility companies, with the exception of the company „ALBA Zenica“ d.o.o. Zenica, which is jointly owned by a foreign partner and local government. The provision of communal services in the Canton is performed by communal company Utility companies perform utility activities of individual and joint utility consumption.

Communal activities of individual communal consumption are drinking water supply, drainage and water purification, collection and transportation of municipal waste from residential and business premises to the landfill, disposal of municipal waste.

The regional landfill on Mošćanica near Zenica deals with the disposal of solid non-hazardous waste in an environmentally friendly manner in accordance with the Law and prescribed technology, from most of the area of Zenica-Doboj Canton. 

Communal activities of common communal consumption are drainage of atmospheric waters, maintenance of cleanliness in public areas and streets, maintenance of public areas, maintenance of cemeteries, decorating, disposal of municipal waste generated within the activities of common communal consumption, cleaning and clearing snow and ice from public areas, local roads and sprinkling sand and salt on streets and local roads.

All communal activities are of public interest and are performed as public services, which meet the needs of urban society and they are an indispensable condition for life and work of citizens, economic I other entities.
